Bought this thinking it was a new publication, because its date is listed as 2016, but it's simply a cheap reprint of a work published in 1906, according to the front matter. Each 2-3 page chapter is little more than bunches of names and places, with extremely little context and no maps. It's certainly concise, but not at all helpful in understanding the history of Wales. Definitely give this one a pass. I'd like to recommend an alternative, but this is my first book on Wales so I'm off now to find something more interesting and informative.Product details

Glad I read this before going on a trip to Great Britain. Helped me understand the history and what I was seeing!
Five stars would have required more depth on the role of Wales within the UK during the 20th century. I would have liked to understand how the "troubles" in Ireland effected Wales, or the size in Scottish nationalism in the past 30 years.
Nice introduction to Welch history. One of the most interesting facts is that the English longbow originated in Wales.
Owen Edwards has written a concise and interesting history of Wales sympathetic to the people and the culture. It is a good read.
5 stars for a very quick and fun read about Welsh history. I read in one afternoon and have a much better understanding of Wales and its lovely people.
I think many be too concise. But, in all fairness, it does cover the subject. If you don't know anything at all about Wales it might be a good place to start. But, make sure you have good map of Wales close at hand to make sense of Welsh history. Happy reading! ☺
If you are an American, read this book BEFORE you visit Wales - so it makes sense. Then - after your visit - read this book again so you will actually understand what you have seen and experienced.
